Bindi Irwin is welcoming a new lease of life after undergoing surgery to combat endometriosis earlier this year. As per reports, she was so affected by the condition that she could barely get out of bed.
Back in March, the daughter of the late Steve Irwin reflected on how she had been living with medical issues that had plagued her for at least a decade.
Taking to Instagram at the time, the conservationist and TV personality revealed she had undergone surgery for endometriosis. She added that she’d been in pain for quite some time, though her problems were dismissed by previous doctors.
“Dear Friends, I battled for a long time wondering if I should share this journey with you in such a public space. It came down to the responsibility I feel to share my story for other women who need help,” she wrote in March.
“For 10yrs I’ve struggled with insurmountable fatigue, pain & nausea. Trying to remain a positive person & hide the pain has been a very long road. These last 10yrs have included many tests, doctors visits, scans, etc.
“A doctor told me it was simply something you deal with as a woman & I gave up entirely, trying to function through the pain. I didn’t find answers until a friend @lesliemosier helped set me on a path of regaining my life.”

Now, some months after said surgery, it would seem that Bindi made the right decision. Speaking to Fox News Digital recently, the 25-year-old revealed that her life had been transformed
“My life now looks completely different than it did before I had my surgery,” Irwin said.
“Over the 10 years that I was really battling with endo[metriosis] without knowing it, I would get progressively worse every week and in the end, before my surgery, I was barely able to get out of bed.”
Irwin revealed that she’d had 37 lesions and a chocolate cyst (cystic lesions found in the ovaries, filled with dark brown endometrial fluid) – removed from her body. Her doctors first words to her as she began her recovery were apparently: “How did you live with this much pain?”
“And now on the other side of surgery, I mean, I’m going for daily zoo walks with my family,” she told Fox News Digital.
“I’m able to go to our management meetings and check up on our animals and do the filming work that I love and play with my daughter. And it is just so wonderful. I feel like I see the world in a new way now. I’m able to actually do things again. “It does feel like a second chance at life.”
